Deering Sierra Openback with Walnut Neck

After playing, and enjoying, a Goodtime Classic and RK 025 'Madison', I have progressed to the point that I wanted an instrument which produces more musical tones, sustains and nuances. Happily, I found Banjo Studio on the Deering website and called for advice. I spoke with David who listened carefully to what I was looking forward, asked questions about my style, engaged in a relaxed dialogue and offered advice on various options. No time limit, no pressure. The Deering Sierra OB with walnut neck is exactly what I was looking for. This instrument wants to sing! It is warm but clear, and with plenty of punch. Even at the 19th fret and above the tones are like a bell. Each region of the pot has its own voice so that a full range of styles is possible, and each is beautiful. Clearly I have a great deal of learning to do in order to gain full expression from this banjo, but its beautiful sound and responsiveness are certain to provide all of the capability I want for a long time to come. The banjo came in perfect condition and carefully set up, ready to play. More importantly, thanks to David's patience, I have exactly the right instrument for my goals. Perfect satisfaction. Can't say 'Thank you' enough.
